			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The Republican Liberty Caucus of Georgia announced today their endorsement of Sam Tostensen for Glynn County Commissioner At-Large.  “Sam believes in the values of liberty.  He wants to preserve individual liberty and reduce the size of government in Glynn County,” said Caucus Chairman Tyler Burgess.</p>
<p>“Voters are very focused on federal and state issues, but they also need to be mindful of issues at the local level.  We believe that Sam would be the best choice in defending freedom at the local level,” continued Chairman Burgess. The Caucus encourages the voters of Glynn County to support and vote for Sam Tostensen for the At-large seat on Tuesday.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The Executive Board of the Republican Liberty Caucus of Georgia has endorsed the following measures currently under consideration in the Georgia General Assembly.</p>
<p>We OPPOSE <a href="http://www.legis.state.ga.us/legis/2009_10/sum/hb277.htm">HB277</a>, <a href="http://www.legis.state.ga.us/legis/2009_10/sum/sb39.htm">SB39</a> &#038; <a href="http://www.legis.state.ga.us/legis/2009_10/sum/sr44.htm">SR44</a> &#8211; These measures will levy a 1 percent sales tax, statewide or regionally, for specified transportation projects. The Republican Liberty Caucus of Georgia stands with Governor Perdue (not often we&#8217;ve said that) in unequivocally opposing any increases in transportation taxes until the DOT is reformed so that the money is not wasted;</p>
<p>We OPPOSE<a href="http://www.legis.state.ga.us/legis/2009_10/sum/hb160.htm"> HB 160</a> &#8211; Perdue&#8217;s &#8220;super speeder&#8221; bill to boost fines $200 for drivers exceeding 85 mph on Interstate highways and 75 on other roads. This measure is meant to fund &#8220;Trauma Care&#8221;. While arguable a worthy effort, the RLC-GA opposes the direct funding of any government services through Fines or Sin Taxes.</p>
<p>We SUPPORT<a href="http://www.legis.state.ga.us/legis/2009_10/sum/hb480.htm"> HB480</a> &#038; <a href="http://www.legis.state.ga.us/legis/2009_10/sum/hb481.htm">481</a> &#8211; JOBS Act to cut taxes on businesses looking to hire workers and relocate to Georgia.</p>
<p>We Support<a href="http://www.legis.state.ga.us/legis/2009_10/sum/sb1.htm"> Senate Bill 1</a>, Zero Based Budgeting which will require the General Assembly to review all spending every four years. </p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Zero Based Budgeting is one of the most important measures being considered by the General Assembly this year. </p>
<p>Under Georgia&#8217;s current system of continuation budgeting, once new spending programs are approved, they are automatically rolled over into succeeding state budgets under the line item, continuation. Legislators focus on how much extra to spend and not whether programs approved years or decades earlier are still needed.</p>
<p>Zero based budgeting will require all spending to be detailed in the budget, not just the new programs. It will help lawmakers identify and eliminate wasteful and unneeded spending.</p>
<p>Senator Shafer&#8217;s legislation is endorsed by Americans for Prosperity, FreedomWorks, Libertarian Party of Georgia, and Republican Liberty Caucus.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The RLC strongly condemns the Governor&#8217;s veto of HB94 &#8211; the 2007 Supplemental Budget and the $142 Million dollar tax cut to the citizens of Georgia. While the Governor might believe that &#8220;politics got in the way of doing the right thing,&#8221; and &#8220;The late night, quick fix was the wrong solution for Georgia&#8221; the Governor should also remember that it is never bad policy or the wrong solution to return money individuals who worked hard to earn it.</p>
<p>The Republican Liberty Caucus calls on all Representatives and Senators who believe that the budget represents the taxpayer&#8217;s money and not the government&#8217;s money to override the Governor&#8217;s veto. </p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><strong>Republican Liberty Caucus of Georgia Supports Franchise Fee Transparency and Fairness</strong></p>
<p>ATLANTA, GA, January 28, 2007 â€“ The Republican Liberty Caucus of Georgia, a grassroots organization promoting individual freedom, limited government and fiscal responsibility, has issued a position on <strong>HB107 &#8211; Municipal government; additional requirements; certain franchise fees.</strong></p>
<p>House Bill 107 will impose greater transparency, breaking out the cost of government in the bills consumers receive each month. It will also impose fairness in taxation. Consumers will not be forced to pay the fees and taxes imposed upon a utility by political jurisdictions to which they do not reside and have no vote.</p>
<p>The Republican Liberty Caucus of Georgia takes positions in support or opposition to legislation under consideration in the Georgia General Assembly. Our criteria are based on the Liberty Compact we ask all candidates to sign. It states that candidates will work to: restore liberty, shrink government, reduce taxes, abolish programs, and promote the freedom and independence of Georgia citizens.</p>
<p>The Republican Liberty Caucus intends to use the recorded committee and floor votes for HB 107 as part of its review process for 2008 endorsements. We encourage all Republicans who believe in liberty to vote in favor of HB 107. </p>
