Runoff Tuesday!
By Chris Farris | August 6, 2006
Friends, Georgians and Lovers of Liberty,
As I’m sure you are aware, Tuesday is the runoff election from last month’s primaries. Georgia law states that if any candidate doesn’t receive over 50% of the vote, the top two candidates must face off in a run-off election. Two RLC endorsed candidates need your help on Tuesday, August 8th.
Karen Handel won the primary for Secretary of State with 44% of the vote. Karen is a strong conservative candidate with the experience needed to manage a large bureaucracy. As chairwoman of the Fulton County Commission, she managed to hold back tax increases proposed by the ultra-liberals on the commission. She has proposed specific workable reforms for electronic voting machines.
Her opponent, on the other hand, received the largest ethics fine in state history. When asked what makes him qualified to be Georgia’s Secretary of State, he points to his cosponsorship of the gay marriage amendment. The contrast between these two candidates is clear: Karen Handel has the experience necessary to run the office of the Secretary of State, while Bill Stephens is cut from the same corrupt cloth as our K-Street majority.
The other RLC candidate racing a run-off is Brian Kemp. Brian is an experienced state senator with a track record of finding waste and eliminating it. He has already identified over $150,000 in wasteful spending at the Agriculture Department. His legislative record reflects consistent support of gun and property rights.
I want to thank you for your support in last month’s primary election. By pushing Casey Cagle to victory, we managed to send a clear message that the people of Georgia want an ethical government with a focus on property rights, sound fiscal principles and individual liberty. We now need your help to finish the job and nominate Karen Handel and Brian Kemp.
Thank you for your vote!
